  • Have the Route 8 Killers Struck again?

    Jennifer Farber Dulos Missing 2019

In December of 2021, skeletal remains were found in the Connecticut town of Harwinton a hundred yards off a road in a wooded area near the Litchfield town line. At first, people suspected that the remains could be that of murdered housewife Jennifer Dulos of New Canaan, Connecticut. Her disappearance in May of 2019, attracted national attention and her husband Fotis Dulos was arrested for tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution in her disappearance. Fotis would later commit suicide in January 2020, leaving a note claiming he had nothing to do with his wife’s disappearance.

Little has been provided to the public about the remains found in Harwinton but according to the Namus database, it appears to be that of a black curly haired female between the ages of 16 to 24 years of age. She may be caucasian or hispanic and may have been between the height of 4 feet 11 inches and 5 foot 5 inches.

As for now, her name remains a mystery. But it is the latest of murder victims to be found on or around the towns of Route 8 (north of Waterbury). The victims started with the 1986 murder of Kansas Transient Jack Franklin Andrews whose torso and arms were found a rest stop (now closed) on Route 8 that was at the time used as a meeting spot for gay/bisexual men to have sexual encounters. Andrews head, legs and other body parts were never found. He would be the first and last male victim as the rest would be women.

After a pause of a few years, 27 year old Evelyn Betancourt, was located shot to death on January 7th, 1993. The three women had struggled with drug addiction and prostituted themselves to get money. All three were found off of Valley Road in the Campville section of town.

A break would come in the murder of Betancourt through a jail house confession and a man was convicted of the murder but he is not a suspect in the murders of the other murders.

According to LAw Enforcement Cornieles-Ubiera was not involved in prostitution. Her case may or may not be related to the murders of Alavarado and Everett.

In 2006, the remains of 22 year old Jessica Muskus was found in November of 2006. She had gone missing in August of 2004. Police reported that she was involved in prostitution and had been attacked by an unknown hispanic male attack that was never solved. She had been found in an area off of Route 41 near Campville in Harwinton. She like the other murdered women were all from the city of Waterbury.

Now it looks like a possible serial killer has struck again.

UPDATE: 2-17-2021 The remains found in December of 2021 have been identified as 20 year old Brianna Beam.
