Innocence Taken and Stolen

shirleyjanerose

Nine year old Shirley Jane Rose was a young girl living her childhood. On the early evening of October 17th, 1975, she was abducted by someone just a block from her home in Springfield. A witness reported seeing a 1969-1970 blue Chevrolet car follow the elementary school girl. A search would ensue but would prove fruitless in finding her alive.
Several months later on December 13th, her remains were discovered unearthed from a grave by animals near McDaniel Lake. There were persons of interest in the case but never any arrests. Her parents passed away without seeing justice, now her siblings want answers and justice.

New Years Day Murder Unsolved 25 Years Later

johngraves
For most families, the new year brings joy, happiness and hope. For one family, it brings back painful memories. January 1, 1990 was the last time the family of John Graves saw their father and husband alive.
The 41 year old father of two was murdered execution style by a gunshot wound to the front of his head.
Graves had been to a hunting lodge that he was a caretaker for when an alarm went off. The lodge was only about a 20 minute drive from his house and had been broken into before.
The town of Mound City, had a population of less than 1,000 and in a very rural area. It is believed that Graves may have known his killer and that he may have been the child of a family friend. To date the murder is unsolved and his family has since moved away from the area where John Graves was murdered.

Fifty Year Mystery Still Troubles State

missourichild
What was her name? Who were her parents? And who would do that to a young child? These are just some of the questions Investigators have in regards to the body of a young white female child found February 1, 1968 in Lake Alton by the southern end of the Lewis and Clark Bridge off of US Route 67 in St. Louis County. She was estimated to be around 35 to 40 pounds with blonde hair and around two foot and eight inches. Her body was found inside a suit case that was weighted down by four 10 pound exercise weights. There were no physical signs of violence on the body but that does not mean foul play did not occur.

It is no secret that someone is living with a sinister secret. This child needs a name and the persons responsible held accountable. Double Murder Remains Unsolved

workes

It was a disturbing sight when on June 13, 2013, the bodies of Gary T. Workes and Maurice “Bud” Karzin were found dead inside Workes’ apartment in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in University City. Workes who was 59 years old and Karzin who was 77 years old were both friends and neighbors. They were found stabbed to death. Police believe it is possible that Workes may have let his killer into his residence. Karzin was a former police officer who had worked for several departments in the St. Louis area and lived downstairs from Workes. Workes wallet was stolen but other items were untouched. Police believe that Karzin was killed trying to help save Workes from his attacker(s). If you have any information about these two homicides, please call the University City Police Department at 314-725-2211 at extension 8010. Or contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
