Do you have Lincoln one cent piece dated 1974 made out of aluminum? OR maybe a 1964D Liberty Silver Dollar? These coins that have folklore around them that suggest that one time they were minted only to be melted before going out into circulation. At one time the US mint considered the price of copper too costly for a one cent piece and had considered aluminum as a possible metal replacement. Eventually, the pennies in 1982 would be minted out of primarily zince. Several of these Lincoln aluminum test pieces were allegedly given to US congressman and other Washington bureaucrats as an example and it is believed that several of these people never returned the coins to the mint. In the following decades, a few have been found and verified as real coins.
There is also the legend of the Liberty Silver Dollar dated 1964 and made in the Denver mint. The coins were originally minted from 1922 to 1935. According to reports, thousands may have been struck only to be melted down when a decision was made not to send millions of the revamped Liberty Dollar back into the American circulation.
If one has either of these coins, they are estimated to be worth in the millions of dollars. However, there is a problem in that the US government will seize the coins from any private owner because they are not officially released currency and therefore the property of the United States Government.
Oh, well, you can always hope that you have some of these other rare coins listed here such as the 1913 Liberty Head Nickels, a rare flowing hair large cent or an 1804 Silver dollar.

It has been regarded as one of the worst terrorist attacks ever on United States soil. The truck bombing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States, on Wednesday, April 19, 1995 at the Alfred Murrah Federal Building claimed the lives of 168 people and injuring many more. Right Wing Domestic Terrorists, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols would eventually be convicted of the horrendous crime. McVeigh would be executed just before the 9-11 terror attacks by Islamic Extremists from the Al Qaeda Terrorist network. Nichols was sentenced to life in prison and is a resident of the Florence Super Max Federal Prison.
Over the years, people have speculated that Nichols was the man pictured as the second John Doe (pictured right). But other media reports have speculated as to who he may be and mentioned names of possible accomplices to McVeigh. But there have been no arrests and John Doe #2’s identity is still unknown.
Twenty Four year old John Evers Robinson was a musician who played in the New Haven (Connecticut) Hardcore music scene. Known by his nickname “Rokked”, he was a bass player and a songwriter, he was responsible for writing most of the songs for his band, “Sold on Murder”
A 1990 article written by Howard Altman for the New Haven Advocate described him as a gifted student, good friend and strongly opinionated person that could win many arguments with points and wit. However, on March 14th of 1990, someone had more than an argument with Robinson as his body was found in an office space at 178 Temple Street in downtown New Haven. His body had been there for several days and his skull had been crushed by someone using a blunt instrument. Robinson had used the office as a rehearsal space but had been evicted in the weeks prior despite still having a key and using it without permission.
There are several theories as to why Robinson was killed. One suggests that we was slain because he had stolen a cymbal from a Neo-Nazi Skinhead band and it was some form of retaliation. Those allegations of theft were not believed to be true.
Others suggest that Robinson who may have been a pot dealer was looking to make a big score in a drug deal (with more hardcore drugs) and was robbed of the product.
Still others think he knew his killers because the office showed no signs of forced entry. It could have been an acquaintance or friend that took the Kansas Transplant’s life.
It is possible that more than one person killed Robinson in that he was six foot three inches tall , muscular and around 215 pounds. The murder weapon used in the crime was never located and a drum set in the space was missing when his remains were found.
At one point the state of Connecticut offered a $20,000 reward for information that would result in an arrest and conviction for those responsible for Robinson’s murder. IF you have any information, please contact the New Haven Police Department at (203) 946-6304.
